We Tried Nurture Life’s Ready-to-Eat Meals for Kids – Here’s How They Fit Into Our Tween’s Lunchboxes

At Teuko, we’re always exploring smart solutions that help busy parents pack healthy, fun lunches for their kids. Even in summer, the lunch-packing hustle doesn’t stop… especially when your 12-year-old is heading to day camps all week! And we thought it was a good time to be ready with delicious food solutions for Back-to-School.

That’s why we were thrilled to partner with Nurture Life, a meal delivery service offering ready-to-eat meals designed for kids. We chose a few meals in their app and received a box to try out, and this post is part of a collaborative review. While the meals were gifted, all opinions are our own, and affiliate links in this article help keep Teuko free for families like yours (at no extra cost to you 💜).

First Impressions: From Delivery to Prep

When our Nurture Life box arrived on Tuesday (we could not choose the delivery date), it was 5:30 PM and still perfectly cold. We appreciated the brand’s eco-conscious choices: over 85% recycled cardboard box, an insulated liner made from 95% recycled paper fibers, and packaging that’s recyclable curbside.

The Starter Guide was colorful and helpful, though the messaging could feel slightly heavy-handed (“less than 10% of children in the US consume enough vegetables…” or “Picky Eater Problems?”). We love the mission, but prefer a more empowering tone! Our Teuko Tip: don’t show the Starter Guide to your kid (especially if your kid reads), and instead, share and emphasize the fact that your kid can enjoy good food… or even become a food adventurer! 😉

Portion-wise, these meals are ideal for toddlers and young kids, but for older eaters like our 12-year-old, we paired two meals with fresh sides (indeed, what about families with young ones plus a big brother or a big sister…? We really had to try! 🙂 ). Prep was easy: heat in a pan or microwave, then pack in a thermos or lunchbox.

Thursday (Day 2) – Chicken Mix + Match in a Food Jar

  • Meals: 2 kids meals, “Chicken & Mac” and “Italian Meatballs“, mixed and warmed in a thermos
  • Add-ons: Sliced kiwi and a probiotic strawberry milk
  • Kid’s Verdict: A big hit! Great taste, perfect texture after reheating.

Again, in less than 5 minutes (meal prep in the evening plus reheating in the morning), our Teuko Kid’s lunch was done! And this is the Nurture Life lunch he preferred the most.

Friday (Day 3) – Pulled Pork Day

  • Meals: BBQ Pulled pork + boiled potatoes + Babybel + homemade applesauce
  • Kid’s Verdict: Pulled pork was “okay” but not a favorite. Ranked last after dumplings, the omelet, and the chicken.

✅ Verdict: Would We Order Again?

Yes, with a few hacks.

Nurture Life meals are flavorful, convenient, and feel made with care. They’re a strong option for busy weeks or camp days. That said, for tweens or teens, we suggest taking two “Kids Meals” and adding fresh produce or protein sides for a more filling, well-rounded lunch.

We also appreciate their commitment to sustainability, dietitian-crafted recipes, and honest ingredients, though we’d love to see even cleaner options (no canola oil or coloring agents spotted in some meals).
